Hi everyone,
I’ve been reading more about institutional construction lately and wanted to hear from people who have experience working on these kinds of projects.
Compared to standard residential or small commercial work, institutional projects seem much more complex because of stricter regulations, larger budgets, longer timelines, and the need for coordination between multiple teams. It seems like planning and project management become much more important when dealing with schools, healthcare facilities, government buildings, or similar spaces.
For those who’ve worked in institutional construction , what challenges usually have the biggest impact on project success? Is it scheduling, communication between contractors, compliance requirements, budgeting, or something else entirely?
I’m also curious how these projects differ day-to-day compared to regular commercial construction work and what skills or systems are most important for keeping everything organized.
Any real-world insights or experiences would be really interesting to hear.
