Is it important to apply a highlighter?

I’m a little dusky and I like minimalist makeup. My makeup artist said that highlighter will provide me dewy glow as well as make my cheekbones look more prominent but I’m not very sure about it. What are your thoughts on this?

It totally depends on your comfort zone. It is definitely not necessary to apply a highlighter. But yes, even I have experienced this. The application of a highlighter on the cheekbones gives a glowy look to the face and enhances the shape as well!
