Check about common areas - the decor vendor/ venue should not be charging for say the common walkway or the common entrance separately from both parties. I think whoever books first pays but get this checked.

Worth checking the timing of the other event, if parking slots are limited in number, the event that starts earlier might fill up.

You don't have to worry about this. Selecting a grand and proper venue is the most important thing and if you have selected the place then don't go for another one.
There are a couple of hacks you can implement for the function,
1. Opt for Sign Boards which will be displayed on the entrance of the venue and each gate.
2. Look out for the vendors. If's everything is in-house then recheck the availability of the vendors 2 days before because generally the vendors are divided between two venues. It' should not create a hassle.
